About your hosts

Graham and Cheryl are keen ‘foodies’ and prepare all of our retreat menus with fresh locally sourced ingredients. Our menus are inspired by chefs like Yotam Ottolenghi, Ixta Belfrage, and other vegetarian and vegan chefs to bring you an array of tastes from around the world.

We believe in offering a fun experience, where every participant not only learns but savours and appreciates the rich tapestry of the Portuguese influence from around the world. Whether you’re a culinary enthusiast or just looking to try something new, this workshop promises a blend of fun, flavour, and festivity.

Your schedule

Arrive at 10:45 for coffee and tea before we start our fun interactive cooking experience as a group. Enjoy your creations with your new friends over a glass of wine sitting under the Carob trees. End of event is normally around 2pm.

We had a super fun day on this Ottolenghi inspired workshop. It was a chance to learn some new cooking skills and try new Mediterranean-inspired recipes. We enjoyed meeting other like-minded cooks and sharing a lunch together. I’d highly recommend Cheryl and Graham’s Figs on the Funcho enterprise.

My sister and I had a wonderful time! We love the recipes and the very kind and patient chef and his two family assistants. The food was delicious. And, the beautiful premises completed the whole picture. We can definitely recommend this cooking class 👍🏼😋👌🏼

How to get here

We’ll pick you up at Faro airport at 3pm; if you’ve opted for a different route, we’ll warmly welcome you at the riverside villa from 3pm.

For those arriving by train, disembark at Messines-Alte train station and choose a quick 5-minute taxi ride to reach the villa. This is an excellent choice for those who prefer to avoid an internal flight and instead savour a scenic journey through the countryside.

If you’re flying into Faro airport, you have two options: either take the train to Messines-Alte and select a 5-minute taxi ride to the villa or opt for a 45-minute airport taxi transfer directly to the villa.
