Figs On The Funcho

The River House

Enjoy ‘home-from-home’ modern comfort at The Algarve River House

Situated in the beautiful hills of the Algarve with stunning group accommodation and a swimming pool. The River House accommodates ten adults, including children and up to four babies. Originally a Portuguese farmhouse, it has been tastefully and fully renovated in a contemporary style.

The River House is the perfect location for families or groups wanting to get away from it all, with gorgeous rooms, large decks and terraces for outdoor dining and exercise, an infinity pool and uninterrupted views of the countryside and Funcho Dam.

We know that it is not easy going on holiday with a baby or small children but we have it all covered at our family friendly villa and have all kinds of equipment and toys for the kids to ensure that you have an enjoyable holiday.

Your home-from-home has a fully-equipped, modern kitchen. But if cooking doesn’t suit your holiday mood; book a cook for the week or specific days and have deliciously prepared meals and wine delivered right to you. Ask Cheryl for Gill’s home cooked menu and wine list.

Those looking for a holiday dedicated to cooking can book a five day Culinary Extravaganza or experience a 4-hour holiday master cooking class where you get to create a bespoke menu using ingredients of your choice to suit your preferences or to celebrate any special occasion.

If you’re planning a celebration with a small group of friends and family, the River House, with its large waterfront deck is perfect to create a magical dining experience under the mature carob trees. And when you visiting The Algarve River House there are plenty of onsite and nearby fun group activities to enjoy during your special celebration getaway.

Perfect group accommodation with a swimming pool with stunning views.

Groups looking to focus on a particular theme can join one of our upcoming retreats such as yoga, meditation or healthy eating and experience modern comfort combined with an enchanting outdoor space in Portugal’s southernmost region.

We had a great stay. In fact, we enjoyed being at The River House so much that we didn't really explore the area. We had a nice meal at Academico and went on a trip to Sagres. Very peaceful and very quiet. Just what we needed.

"The River House is a beautiful villa and we very much enjoyed our stay. The info pack was really helpful and we visited several of the places mentioned. We also booked the wine tasting who came to the villa which was lovely - we would all definitely recommend it!”

We had a wonderful stay at the River house. We had bikes delivered to the villa for our stay & did some beautiful rides & lots of walking whilst enjoying the local villages. Excellent accommodation that worked really well for us as a large family. I must say I have never slept so well when I have been away the beds were so comfy !!

We booked this villa though a child friendly villa agent and were pleasantly surprised. It is remote and you will need a car, but there are so many great places to visit! Our group were 7 adults, a 14 month baby, 2.5 year old and 4 year old. The villa is extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen, which is huge. Safety and toys provided for children, which is key for us. The gardens are very well groomed and there is a lot of space. The views are beautiful! The pool initially looked quite small, but actually worked out very well as it has different levels. The view from the pool is outstanding. Local town supermarche is stocked with everything you would need, even vegan items which was an amazing surprise! We really enjoyed a day trip to Praia 3 Iramaos beach and also Fortaleza de Armação de Pêra. Albuferia wasn't as nice and deffo would not go there again. Our visit to Silves was lovely. We did a walk around the town and the castle and we ate dinner at Cafe Ingles, which was excellent!

We have been home for a few weeks now, but our small grandchildren are still talking about our “holiday home” and “can we go back” This is a sentiment we all share as we had a memorable time at the River House to celebrate Grandad’s 70th birthday
