Tracy Burton

Tracy Burton is a writer and keen hiker who moved to Portugal in 2018.
She and her partner Harri Roberts have always loved the outdoor lifestyle; however, their native Wales proved too wet for year-round hiking pursuits, hence them coming to the Algarve.
In 2015, Tracy published her first travelogue, Never Too Old To Backpack: a 364-mile walk through Wales, an account of the couple’s three-week walk through Wales. A second book followed, The Via Algarviana: walking 300km across the Algarve and, eventually, a follow-up, More Algarve Hiking.
Tracy has published around 20 routes on Walkingworld.com (where she focuses on the central Algarve area) and regularly leads walks for Hiking Algarve, a Facebook community of keen walking enthusiasts. She also writes for Tomorrow, an English-language community magazine for the Algarve.
The couple live near Armação de Pêra with their ginger cats, Moses and Caesar. When walking together, they mostly leave the car behind and set off on foot to explore the stunning central Algarve coastline or open landscapes of the nearby hills (and often both in one hike).

John Walker

John Walker, hails from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and has been living in the Algarve since 2019. A keen walker and regularly leads walks for Hiking Algarve, a popular Facebook walking group in the Algarve. He has walked all over the world and whilst exploring the Algarve on foot he is reminded about the greatness of the area and how small and insignificant we really are.
John loves being outdoors and enjoys the physical exertion he experiences from walking as he finds it relaxing. He believes that the best way to experience the exquisiteness of the Algarve is to be outdoors walking and he is looking forward to discovering the beautiful Algarve with you!
