Inspired by the outdoors, large windows fill the lodge with light and the scent of natural wood is everywhere.

Natural materials are combined with vibrant furnishings to create an inviting ‘home from home’ that you won’t want to leave. Ten double rooms are named after Portuguese towns in the Algarve. Each room has an en-suite bathroom and double doors opening out onto a private terrace or balcony overlooking the rural countryside or waterfront area below. A large, covered waterfront deck is the main hub at The River Lodge with a central fireplace and ample space for relaxing, dining or socialising.

On arrival, guests are welcomed with a refreshing drink. Once a week, a cocktail hour is hosted, usually early evening, so you can witness the magnificent sunsets over the water. Midweek, guests can enjoy complimentary cake and tea on the deck. The River Lodge is available on a Bed & Breakfast basis and with many restaurants in the area guests can venture out and explore the local cuisine. However, if you prefer to stay at the lodge you can pre-order light lunches and dinners via us or our culinary partners. In addition, there is a small kitchenette in the dining area that guests can share, or large group bookings can request access to The River House kitchen. The River Lodge also arranges two themed evening dinners per week. These social evenings with guests and hosts are a lively affair.

The ideal venue for any occasion

The River Lodge is the ideal place for a secluded break, a group or family holiday, a wedding or special celebration. It can be rented separately, per individual room, or with The River House for larger functions. Figs at the Funcho also arrange Culinary Experiences, Holiday Cookery Lessons, Detox Breaks and Yoga Workshops. Whatever your requirements, you can be sure of a warm welcome by Cheryl and Graham who will be on hand, as much or as little as you want.
