Cheryl and Graham are leading a walk to help raise funds for the Mr No Ears Cat Haven’s external project “Silves Street Cats” charity. Money raised will be used to organise adoptions and care for cats that can’t be re-homed due to age and disability.

The charity named its project, Mr No Ears Cat Haven, after a white cat in Albufeira who had his ears removed due to cancer. They received money from sponsors all over the world and here in Portugal to make this operation possible.

The charity is more like a Hospice as they look after many cats that suffer serious illnesses and injuries. They love them and provide a safe and happy environment for the cats.

Walking Details

The out-and-back walk, starting from Figs on the Funcho, will follow the path along the river Funcho and pass through pine and cork forests before reaching the church perched on the hill. The hilltop offers bucolic vistas of the Algarve’s rural countryside, where farmers raise cattle and hunters pursue game. The shepherd shares the walking route, and during lambing season, we may meet his flock of sheep and adorable lambs.

Walking distance is approximately 6km and will take about 1 hour to complete. This is a moderately easy walk except for the 180 meter incline that leads up to the church, however, you can opt not to do it and wait for the walking group to return. Also there is the incline, on your return, just before reaching the entrance to the road that leads to our location, Figs on the Funcho.
